Invite by QR code, session code, join link, or email. Guests wait in a waiting room until you Accept or Decline. Witnesses, opposing counsel, and reporters do not need a HandOut account. They join on a laptop or tablet — no install.

You start a timed session of 1 to 24 hours, tied to a case and folder. When you end it, session history keeps a Certified Exhibit Log and an Exhibit Binder (ZIP + index) of what was shown.

Yes. Place Standard, Deposition, Trial, or Custom stickers and save this page, a range, or the full PDF as a new marked copy — the original file is not overwritten. You don’t keep up with the next exhibit number — HandOut advances it for that witness. Add Exhibit mid-session without renumbering what is already marked.

No. Marked copies are new files. The source PDF stays as it was. The same is true when you save witness annotations into an exhibit.

Sticky pads in the page gutter — fonts and pad colors, hide or show. They are never shown to viewers, in prep or during live sharing.

No. HandOut automatically progresses to the next exhibit number for that witness, so counsel can stay on the question instead of the stamp.

Pause sharing. The room sees nothing until you resume. Use that to jump pages, place a sticker, or find the next document without leaking it onto the witness tablet.

Viewers follow the host’s page live. Independent page scrolling stays off unless you allow it for that person. If someone drifts, use Sync All to Current Page. Need a clause or a date? Live-highlight it or project it — the witness is on that spot almost instantly.

You don’t have to talk them there. Highlight the line or project a callout, and they are looking at that exact spot in a second — the same sentence counsel and the reporter see. PDFs are text-searchable, so you can find the word or clause first, then put them on it.

Yes. HandOut indexes PDF text so you can search inside the exhibit — a name, date, or clause — in the case folder or during the live session. You are not limited to searching file names.

Yes. Place signature, date, name, or text fields on a PDF (saved into a To Be Signed folder), then Request Completion in the live session. The witness types their full legal name, consents, and signs. HandOut saves a signed copy with an audit record. The signed file is not shown to the room until you share it. They can also decline.

Yes. The host controls play, pause, and seek. Play for the room, or keep playback host-only. Blank Canvas is there for live drawing — save it as an image exhibit and sticker it like any other file.

Yes. Request a file from a participant. They upload from their device. You review it privately, then Accept into case or Reject. It never appears on the shared screen until you choose to share it.

Send a package of marked exhibits only to counsel or the court reporter. Recipients verify with email and an access code. Links expire and can be revoked. Track opened vs downloaded. You can also download an Exhibit Binder from session history.

Yes. The Certified Exhibit Log records what was shown, and when. It follows the session into history, alongside the Exhibit Binder.

Sessions authenticate. Files use time-limited signed URLs — never public links. Optional TOTP two-factor. No PHI/PII in application logs. Guests wait until the host admits them. Packages require email plus an access code, expire, and can be revoked. We cannot see your case files, even if we wanted to. See the security page.

No. Your cases are yours. We cannot see your documents or files — even if we wanted to. Client privacy and security are a top priority. You control who sees an exhibit, in the session and after. See the security page.

No. Solo, Team, and Firm include the same HandOut feature set. You upgrade for more users, more storage, and administration — not because Solo is missing marking, sharing, or session tools.

Solo is $129/month for 1 user (25 GB). Team is $349/month for up to 5 users (75 GB). Firm is $599/month for up to 10 users (150 GB). Solo, Team, and Firm include the same HandOut feature set — you upgrade for users, storage, and administration. Extra storage is 50 GB for $10/month. Only if you allow it. Per person, you can turn on Allow annotation and Allow independent page scrolling — both off by default. Save witness annotations into a new exhibit; the original stays unchanged. Host private notes are never visible to them.
